Your Vote Is Important! There are Stark Differences Between The Candidates on Issues

Based on our review of the candidates’ positions on issues, we are asking you to vote for Jennifer Hyland, Walker Agnew, Jr. and Caroline H. Bennett for SBISD Trustee Positions 5, 6 and 7.

Candidates for SBISD Trustee Positions 5, 6 and 7, have websites, Facebook posts, Instagram posts, emails, flyers, videos, and/or other election information which describe issues and topics that are important to the candidate. Voters can find this election information to help them make their voting decision, but this task could take many hours.

This chart is our attempt at distinguishing the candidates based on information we have found; included in the chart is a description of issues candidates have in common with other candidates, and their affiliations and political endorsements of candidates. Sources are provided below.

Running on a slate together are candidates Diana Martinez Alexander, David Enriquez López and Patricia Cabrera. These three candidates have emphasized issues that are divisive and focus on identity and leftist ideologies of diversity, equity and inclusion (otherwise known as DEI), and oppressor vs the oppressed. They have stated their opposition to the removal of sexually explicit materials from schools, which they characterize as “banning books.” They have alleged that SBISD has institutional racism and oppression of people of color. Alexander recently protested against school vouchers. This information about these candidates can be found from the sources below.

Divisive rhetoric and policies interfere with the goals of achieving academic excellence and post-graduate success for all SBISD students.

We believe a vote for Jennifer Hyland, Walker Agnew, Jr. and Caroline H. Bennett will help ALL SBISD students achieve an excellent education and prepare for post-graduation success. We also believe these candidates will achieve their goals of community, parent and family engagement, fiscal responsibility, reading literacy, and transparency, while uniting the SBISD community.
