What is Spring Branch ISD Doing To Reduce Property Taxes?

()

According to the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF):

“Local school bureaucrats are raising property tax rates, busting state limits, and sneaking bond debt to pick the pockets of taxpayers like you. And almost none of it is helping children learn!”

Local school bureaucrats and special-interest cronies (teachers unions, corrupt contractors, lobbyists, etc.) have forced $300 BILLION in spending on NON-EDUCATIONAL luxury projects.

“We must stop local bureaucrats and their special-interest cronies from spending on pet projects that don’t help students but do enrich this establishment.”

“TPPF’s game plan includes:

  • Persuading lawmakers to enact even deeper reform of Texas property taxes—lowering allowable rates and giving immediate tax breaks.
  • Fully banning taxpayer-funded lobbyists. Bureaucrats use your tax dollars to pay slick lobbyists to influence laws that raise your taxes even more. It must stop.
  • Passing and enforcing restrictions on local bond elections and property taxes. This includes requiring all bond elections to be held in November, when voter turnout is greater. Most bond debt is snuck through in odd months when voters aren’t paying attention. These “sneak attack” tax increases must stop.”

In May 2025, Spring Branch ISD Voters and the SBISD Board of Trustees approved bonds totaling of $558,664,792:

  • PROPOSITION A: High schools ($353,775,207)
  • PROPOSITION B: Darrell Tully Stadium & Don Coleman Coliseum ($127,935,050)
  • PROPOSITION C: W.W. Emmons Natatorium ($76,934,535)

Are there things SBISD can be doing to reduce property taxes for SBISD property owners?
